Hi, I’m Adam DeSanctis with the Mortgage Minute, the latest news from the Mortgage Bankers Association. Last week, FHA released a series of mortgagee letters that reduce regulatory burden and improve operational efficiency across its single-family programs. Many of these changes reflect recommendations MBA has consistently advocated for through our engagement with FHA. The updates span nearly every stage of the loan lifecycle, from origination and quality control to servicing and rehab lending. Key changes include eliminating unnecessary appraisal field review requirements, modernizing quality control standards, removing duplicative homebuyer disclosure requirements, expanding flexibility in the limited two hundred and three K rehab programs, and clarifying trial payment plan requirements for borrowers seeking loss mitigation assistance. These actions represent one of FHA’s broadest recent efforts to streamline its single-family program, and MBA will continue working with member committees and FHA to support implementation and provide additional guidance where needed. Also, big developments last week, as has been widely reported, the bicameral bipartisan housing package that passed the House and Senate has been formally transmitted to the White House for presidential review, but has not yet been signed. Stay tuned for details on next steps on when President Trump signs the twenty-first century Road to Housing Act into law. That’s it for this week. Thank you for listening.
